Intelligentia is pleased to announce the signature of an agreement with SITAEL Spa, leading Italian Space company in the field of small satellites, space propulsion and avionics, to support the development of the Space Rider Re-entry Module Mass Memory Unit (MMU). The industrial consortium is composed by SITAEL Spa (MMU Prime Contractor), Intelligentia Srl (SME) and IngeniArs (SME).
Intelligentia will be responsible for the design, development, verification and validation of the MMU On-Board SW, the MMU EGSE SW and the MMU SW Simulator.
Space Rider is an automated robotic laboratory to be developed by Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), prime contractor for the ESA mission, and AVIO, which is planned to launch on Vega-C in 2023. Space Rider aims to provide Europe with an affordable, independent, reusable end-to-end integrated space transportation system for routine access and return from low orbit. It will transport payloads for an array of applications, orbit altitudes and inclinations.
The Space Rider MMU module will be used for the storage of scientific data coming from the various instruments operating on the spacecraft. The laboratory will be reusable for at least 6 flights, and it is designed to stay 60 days in Earth’s orbit, and then return on Earth with all the experiments data and results to be analysed by ESA scientists. The laboratory will be then prepared for a new flight.
We are honoured to work on this challenging project and pleased about the trust that our customers place in our technical and management skills. This project will allow us to strengthen our capabilities in the development of complex and critical SW applications and to acquire new ones in the development of SW simulators for space equipment.
We wish you #moreIntelligentiaInYourWorld
